Speakers: Simone Dixon, Clery Center
Amid the evolving challenges facing higher education, addressing sexual violence remains a critical priority. Too often, the Clery Act is treated merely as a compliance checklist rather than an ally for promoting transparency, accountability, and a campus culture that truly prioritizes student safety. A survivor-focused approach to prevention involves creating intentional programs that identify and address the factors that affect students’ experiences with sexual assault. We will explore how Clery Act compliance can serve as a foundation for developing intentional, impactful programs that resonate with all students. We will also present a framework for understanding the overlap between state or local legislation that may conflict with Clery Act requirements.
This session is part of the Prevention Track sponsored by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
