This session is part of the Prevention Track sponsored by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.

Speakers: Ryan Spooner and Sam McCarthy, Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE)
In an era marked by heightened polarization and emboldened expressions of harmful ideas—including trolling, victim-blaming, and other forms of disruptive rhetoric—it has become increasingly challenging for sexual harm prevention educators to create and maintain learning spaces that are both open and safe for all participants. Educators face a dual responsibility: fostering open dialogue while also protecting the integrity and safety of the learning environment.
In this interactive session, participants will develop skills to “call in” students. Via roleplay, brainstorming, and discussion of real-life scenarios, participants will leave equipped to facilitate productive conversations with youth—without problematizing them, alienating them, or pushing them further toward harmful beliefs and behaviors.
