Technology continues to be a clear avenue for connection to many aspects of life. No sector of life is immune from sexual violence, and sexual violence can occur in tech-facilitated interactions. Recently, there has been a disturbing trend where, in attempts to hold tech responsible for harms that happen while using apps or services, local lawmakers will draft policies that violate survivor’s rights to privacy, choice, and autonomy. Advocates and attorneys have an opportunity and responsibility to partner together to protect survivors in their communities while also finding solutions to adequately prevent and respond to sexual harm in tech-facilitated interactions. Join representatives from Uber and RALIANCE to learn more about the intersections of corporate advocacy and survivor advocacy, and how bridging the gap between these two fields can lead to better policies that best fit the needs of survivors of sexual violence.
