The resurgence of toxic masculinity and the bend towards patriarchal violence—from the manosphere’s growing influence to corporate and political endorsements of “masculine energy”—is not just a cultural trend; it is a systemic backlash against gender and racial justice. In addition to attention being paid to the spread of toxic masculinity, urgent questions are: What conditions have allowed the backslide of masculinity and violence? How are men being cared for? And what are we building instead?
This roundtable conversation will explore how we can co-create new systems, cultures, and spaces that foster healthy, inclusive, and justice-centered masculinities. Panelists will highlight community-based solutions for supporting boys and men of color, and offer strategies to counter patriarchal violence while engaging men in transformative change.
This session is sponsored by the Alliance for Boys and Men of Color.
