Economic inequity and economic instability is a driving force behind intimate partner violence (IPV) and sexual violence (SV). Pay equity in turn can be a critical element in IPV and SV prevention. We know that many advocates are survivors too. Addressing pay equity, both for survivors and the advocates, is essential for preventing violence, promoting economic justice, and sustaining the workforce committed to ending violence. This session will explore the intersection of economic inequity and abuse, and explore how pay equity can reduce the risk factors of violence. Through interactive discussions and practical tools, participants will learn ways to promote equitable pay strategies and strengthen economic support for both survivors and the advocates in the sexual and domestic violence movement.
