This session is part of the Prevention Track sponsored by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.

Speakers: Belinda Flores; Christina Holt; Daniel Goombi, Midwest Native Coalition for Justice and Peace; Emily Voss, Metropolitan Organization Countering Sexual Assault (MOCSA); Maddie Dumbell
Attendees will learn from those working upstream for the primary prevention of sexual violence in Kansas RPE-funded communities. Through community power-sharing, communities are taking action using a framework for collaborative action (assessing, prioritizing & planning; implementing targeted action; changing community conditions & systems; achieving widespread change in behavior & risk factors; improving population-level outcomes). This includes an urban community supporting development of youth leaders, a coalition of rural community partners overcoming misinformation and harmful social norms, a tribal coalition working to assess needs and implement culturally-relevant strategies, and a college town addressing safe and affordable housing.
Presenters will share free Community Tool Box resources for advocates, and real-world examples of collaborative action to address root causes of sexual violence.
