Sexual violence has significant effects on older people in different ways. It can occur when the trauma of an assault is not processed until their full age or if it happened to them at this stage of their lives. Many contributors to these effects are culture, society and religion. But by creating a safe and purposeful space, East Los Angeles Women’s Center has been able to instill programs to create community and be able to give life to the “Grupo de Lss Chicas Malas” to help them accomplish goals and dreams that they didn’t think they would ever be possible in this stage of life.
