This session will explore strategies for implementing restorative practices in cases of sexual misconduct on college campuses. Through interactive practice, participants will learn strategies for obtaining buy-in from campus administrators and community-based advocacy partners, identify the opportunities and risks of incorporating restorative options into existing student conduct protocols, and begin to contextualize restorative practices within a comprehensive response to campus sexual violence. Participants will be introduced to an innovative restorative program used by campuses in Minnesota and will learn how to adapt existing restorative approaches/methodologies to promote accountability, meet the needs of survivors, navigate issues of confidentiality, staffing, and accountability, and create a safer college experience for all students.
