This workshop – delivered entirely in Spanish*– will help participants identify influencing factors, including cultural and social norms that contribute to a successful shift in the paradigm in building community organizing capacity and advance national advocacy strategies on immigration detention issues including needed services for detained survivors of sexual assault. After attending this workshop, participants will be able to better understand the barriers that negatively impact immigrants in detention centers and the need for sexual assault advocacy services, including providing trauma informed care services and legal advocacy for survivors in detention centers. Finally, the participants will have the opportunity to develop tools to build relationships of comprehensive understanding between detention centers and external service providers and other relevant organizations.
*Spanish to English translation will be available to workshop participants
