Dr. Nivea Castaneda Acrey is a proud first-generation Chicana who studies Family, Health, and Intercultural Communication. Specifically, Dr. Castaneda studies Latinx family wellness and family communication when silent trauma occurs. This work informs Nivea’s consulting and counseling business which also allows her to coach local organizations on how to make their workspaces more inclusive, antiracist, and ones that promote justice. As a therapist, she utilizes decolonized forms of trauma informed therapy and also offers services in Spanish. Finally, and most importantly, Nivea is a mom to a three-year-old boy, Mateo and a sweet rottweiler named Trauma. She is a wife, a big sister, and a very proud daughter of Mexican immigrants.
