Sara McGirr, PhD, is the Manager of the Office on Gender, Sexuality, & Violence within MPHI’s Center for Healthy Communities. She has over a decade of experience in cross-sector, community-driven efforts to engage partners, assess needs and assets, and use data to support violence prevention and intervention efforts. Dr. McGirr has had the honor of collaborating with national, state, and local partners on the prevention of sexual violence, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, reproductive coercion, and other related forms of community violence. She specializes in using trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches to prevention work that center anti-oppression principles, and in translating data into actionable insights and recommendations for communities.
