Selene Calderón, originally from El Salvador, grew up and still calls Richmond CA her home. She is the descendant of a long lineage of strong matriarchs who helped mold her and ground her in the importance of healing and community work. She is the first in her family to attend college and her goal after was to be able to return to her community and help advocate for Spanish speaking community members and their families. Her volunteer and past work has focused on supporting immigrant communities, survivors of interpersonal violence, and folks experiencing homelessness. She joined The CHAT team in 2019. Her hope and belief is that people and communities are resilient and can heal. It starts with sitting together, listening, and sharing.
