Maria Nieto is a Lead Promotora and Janitor that has been active in social movements for over 16 years.  She’s participated in strikes, marches, and hunger strikes. In 2016, Maria became an Industrial Promotora with the MCTF and East Los Angeles Women’s Center (ELWC).  She currently serves as a volunteer answering phone calls through the ELWC Crisis Line.  As a Lead Promotora, she serves as an Independent Contractor for the MCTF.  She leads the work of promotoras throughout the state of California in their efforts providing trainings to other janitors. She has also certified Self Defense instructors across the state.  She is a proud wife and loving mother of two children and lives in Los Angeles.
