Luis Mendoza began as volunteer advocate for the crisis hotline and is the Outreach/Advocate Specialist for the East Los Angeles Women’s Center. Mr. Mendoza currently services as one of the coordinators of the Engaging Men Project and support the ongoing Fatherhood Program. This program focuses on building, strengthening and maintaining positive and healthy relationships between fathers and their children, their partners, families, and community. Mr. Mendoza grew up in the Northeast Los Angeles area and attended Cal State University Northridge where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chicana/o Studies. Mr. Mendoza’s family originate from Mexico City D.F., Mexico. He is an older brother of two younger sisters and the son of tailor and a homemaker. Mr. Mendoza has been a participant of the East Los Angeles Men’s Circle for over half of decade, the Circulo meets on every the third Thursday of the month at the East Los Angeles Women’s Center.
