Ruth Rivera dedicated her career to working with underserved and disenfranchised communities. In 2018 Ruth joined the East Los Angeles Women’s Center as a volunteer, then as Coordinator of Wellness Programs for ELAWC’s Crisis Intervention and Response Program at Los Angeles General Medical Center. Ruth facilitates trainings, consult and support for medical providers, social workers and administrators on best practices when working with survivors. She is a graduate of Richmond, The American University in London, where she obtained a BA degree in International Relations and has also completed her Graduate studies in Globalization and Latin American Development from University College London. The combination of being the daughter of Salvadorian immigrants, studying the impact of gender migration and witnessing first-hand the aftermath of gender-based violence through her work; has fuel her determination to create effective social change, empower women, and strengthen communities.
