This session will introduce participants to the Sexual Assault Housing Collaborative which seeks to develop housing options and assistance responses to the unique housing needs of sexual assault survivors. Presenters will discuss barriers to housing for survivors; provide an overview of federal policies and programs included in VAWA and at HUD; and share a vision of addressing survivors’ housing needs including transitional housing, home ownership, tenants rights and protections, culturally specific approaches, and efforts to create new housing options. Presenters will guide participants in a listening session to reveal housing needs as well as best practices for survivor housing advocacy and conclude with opportunities to deepen community around survivor housing advocacy.
