Parents are welcomed as tuition payers, sports boosters, and donors, but often are ignored by colleges and universities when it comes to campus sexual assault. The panel will focus on ways to productively engage parents so they are better informed and can be of greater help if their child is assaulted. Panelists will address findings from multiple interviews with assaulted students, their parents, and campus personnel; Callisto’s increasing efforts to engage parents as they expand nationally; Thomas Jefferson University’s new programming for parents of admitted students; and EROC’s Campus Accountability Map & Tool, a new interactive online tool allowing students and parents to compare sexual assault statistics, prevention efforts, and support resources at 750+ colleges and universities.
