Well over half of people in our nation’s jails and prisons have a disability, and incarcerated people with disabilities are significantly more likely to be sexually abused than their counterparts without disabilities. Yet, these survivors face enormous barriers to reporting sexual abuse and gaining access to victim services. In this workshop, Vanessa Sapien from Just Detention International and Kaitlin Kall from Activating Change will provide practical information and strategies to help advocates and service providers support incarcerated survivors with disabilities.
